You sweat a lot taking photos of summer weddings. This was the hottest wedding I’ve ever done. It was +32 C in the shade. I went through no less than five frozen bottles of water. I kept handing the bride and groom bottles of water too to keep them hydrated.

This was the largest wedding party I have ever done, by a long shot. Go ahead – count them!

This is, by far, the largest wedding party I have ever photographed. I had to stand on a 10 foot stepladder, with my widest lens, to get them all in.

The bridal procession was all ‘monster trucks’. Every one was a 4×4 with large tires and a serious lift.

Sharisse and Chris got married on Dec. 1. It was a very crisp day in Unity. As such, outdoor photos were out of the question.

I always ask the bride and groom to bring something that they love to do. In this case, it was cooking for Sharisse, computer games for Chris, and board games for both. Note the take-off of the Muppet’s Swedish Chef.

Sharisse loved to cook. So we went for a Swedish Chef shot.

The bride and groom took dance lessons to ensure they could cut a rug properly.

That tractor was the first tractor Shawn's grandfather ever sold as a John Deere dealer.

Tina and Shawn had an October wedding. You’ll notice the tractor plays very prominently. Shawn’s grandfather was a John Deere dealer, and that was the first tractor he ever sold. They fixed it up in honour of him. Unfortunately, the grandfather died a few months later. The family asked for some prints of him, which I was happy to furnish.

I first started shooting weddings to pay for my deck. It was old, wrotten and large. My foot fell through it a few times. It took four years to tear down, rebuild and pay for. And when I was completely finished, I got a job offer to move to Estevan not six weeks later.

These weddings are my earliest work. My first was for my next door neighbour’s daughter. A few were family. One was even shot on film! As time went on, my experience and skill improved a great deal.
